The Life of St. Luke
Luke was a physician and a companion of St. Paul, who called him "Luke, the beloved physician." He wrote both his Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles, telling the story of Jesus and the early Church.
Many of the Christmas stories we love come from Luke: the Annunciation, Mary's Magnificat, the shepherds and the manger. Tradition also says he painted Mary, and artists' guilds took him as their patron.
“Luke, the most dear physician, saluteth you.”
Colossians 4:14
