The Life of St. Gerard Majella
Gerard was a tailor's apprentice in southern Italy who became a Redemptorist lay brother. He was cheerful, a little clumsy by his own account, and so generous that he was constantly giving food to anyone who knocked at the door.
Once, as he was leaving a home, he left his handkerchief with a young girl who would need it someday. Years later she held it during a difficult childbirth and prayed for his help. Today mothers and expectant mothers wear his medal and keep his prayer close.
