The Life of St. Stanislaus Kostka
Stanislaus was the son of a Polish senator and was sent to study in Vienna with his brother. He felt a strong call to become a Jesuit and, unable to get his family's permission, set out on foot.
He walked about 450 miles to St. Peter Canisius, who sent him on to Rome, where he entered the Jesuit novitiate. He died there at eighteen on the Feast of the Assumption, joyful and peaceful.
