The Life of St. John Vianney
Jean-Marie Vianney grew up on a farm and longed to be a priest, though his studies were a long struggle. He kept going with great humility, and in 1818 he was sent to the tiny village of Ars.
His prayer, kindness and wisdom in the confessional changed the village, and soon tens of thousands of pilgrims a year came to see him. Pius XI named him patron of parish priests.
“The priesthood is the love of the Heart of Jesus.”
