The Life of St. John Bosco

Giovanni Bosco grew up poor on a Piedmont farm, raised by his loving mother Margaret after his father died. As a boy he used juggling and acrobatics to draw other children together, and then he would repeat the Sunday homily for them.

As a priest in Turin he gathered homeless and working boys into his Oratory, giving them food, schooling, trades and faith. He founded the Salesians and, with St. Mary Mazzarello, the Salesian Sisters, who now serve young people around the world.

“Run, jump, shout, but do not sin.”
