The Life of St. Frances of Rome

Frances longed to be a nun as a girl but married Lorenzo Ponziani at thirteen, and their marriage grew into a happy one. She cared for her household and children, and she and her sister-in-law Vannozza served the poor and sick of Rome.

During famine and plague she opened her home to the needy. In 1425 she founded the Oblates of Tor de' Specchi, women who served the poor without vows, and she joined them after her husband died.
